Echternporter III

  • 1 1/2 oz bourbon
  • 1/2 oz lemon juice
  • 1/2 oz orange juice
  • 1/2 oz Walnut Liqueur (i.e. Nocello)
  • 1/4 oz simple syrup, to taste

Put ingredients in cocktail shaker, stir, strain into ice-filled rocks glass, top glass with porter beer (I used Stone Smoked Porter)

LA Weekly film critic Amy Nicholson joins the boys once again for this year’s installment of the Halloween Spectaular!  This time, the group watches a trio of TERRIFYINGLY sketchy children’s films: Super Mario Bros., Space Jam, and Garbage Pail Kids!

First up however is GJ’s Random Thought.  As it turns out, it’s not so random this time, as it relates directly to the topic of the show and is equally as distressing… GJ has NEVER liked Bugs Bunny!

Fuck you, GJ

Whatcha Drinkin’?! this time is GJ’s take on a cocktail known as a Small Batch Porter.  Featuring bourbon, walnut liqueur, orange and lemon juice, and a splash of porter beer, the Echternporter III has a unique flavor profile that is hard to pin down.  This is one to try when you’re looking for something adventurous!

Before moving on Nick and GJ find out more about what’s been happening with Amy.  It seems that in addition to landing a gig at the LA Weekly, she’s also just finished a book about Tom Cruise.  Hopefully she doesn’t wake up one day soon to find a mailbox full of snakes!

Then it’s on to the Meat of the show.  As always, we have devoted our Halloween episode to bad movies.  Here’s what we suffered through this year:

Super Mario Bros. – This bizarre adaptation of the popular video game series never got much love from audiences or critics…until now!  Which member of the crew found some things to like about this strange film?  Listen and find out.

Space Jam – This Michael Jordan/Bugs Bunny vehicle was actually a huge hit when it released to theaters in 1996.  Does it still hold up?  Did it ever?

The Garbage Pail Kids Movie – Good GOD!

Along the way we also tackle these topics:

  • Taz tattoos
  • Dracula’s accent

  • L. Ron Howard

  • Mumblegore?

Don’t forget to catch Amy Nicholson on a new episode of Whatcha Watchin’?!

The Cover this time is “Halloween” by The Misfits.
